The main issue about retailer confidence is whether Tavistock can retain an identity that is synonymous with quality and independent retailing as more high street chain stores acquire town centre premises. If the ‘chains’ occupy too many premises, yet carry a smaller range than their bigger sisters in Plymouth can, Tavistock risks losing the very thing that makes it different and attractive.
