| EC5.1 Main visitor attractions, including festivals and events | |
|
|
The Tavistock area is particularly suitable for visitors who appreciate magnificent scenery, natural history and heritage, as well as those wishing to pursue outdoor activities. Buildings with an historic interest that are open to the public include Buckland Abbey, Morwellham Quay and the many parish churches. Others, such as Endsleigh Lodge, could be opened or reopened. There is much more history evident in remains on the ground where interpretation is generally necessary. During
the summer there are many events across the area including agricultural
shows, village carnivals, food fairs, arts events, steam rallies and
balloon festivals. There is a feeling that these need to be catalogued
in a single place and promoted more actively as visitor attractions. |
