There is very wide scope for community group participation in managing the countryside. Much is already happening through groups such as the Devon Wildlife Trust, Tavistock and District Conservation Project, the Woodland Trust and BTCV but it is difficult to gain an overview of all that they do. Local Authority Biodiversity Action Plans could encourage a more joined-up approach and the wider involvement of community groups in conservation management.
