| EN3.7 Long distance footpaths, cycle and bridleways linking town and country | |
Guide packs are available for three long distance walking trails in the area: Tamar Valley Discovery Trail: Connects Launceston and Plymouth, and passes through Milton Abbot, Sydenham Damerel, Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers and Lopwell. West Devon Way: Passes along the western edge of Dartmoor between Okehampton and Plymouth, running through Lydford, Brentor, Mary Tavy, Peter Tavy, Tavistock, Yelverton and Clearbrook. Dartmoor Way: A circular recreational footpath around Dartmoor, passing through Tavistock and Princetown. In addition to the ‘official’ Dartmoor Way’, many other guide books and maps are available for walks of all lengths on Dartmoor. The Devon Coast to Coast is a 102-mile long cycle route between Plymouth and Ilfracombe which contains some of the longest off-road sections of the whole National Cycle Network. Currently at interim standard, completion is expected by 2006 when the route around the western edge of Dartmoor will pass through Tavistock and many local villages. |
