happening

- Ley
of the Land. Run by WestDEN, the fourth stage of this project began
in October 2003. It has been highly successful in identifying and meeting

Projects
in planning phases – what is being planned
|
|
- Tavistock
youth café. This is intended to be a place that is safe and warm where young people
can meet their friends. Without a suitable meeting place at present,
large numbers of young people are congregating in the Meadows and their
safety
is of concern. The project has been developed under the auspices of
the Youth Council, with much of the work being done by young people,
and it
is approaching the funding-ready stage.
|
|
- Taviskate. This project is looking to improve on the existing skate ramps in Benson’s
Meadow, with the aim of attracting better and safer skateboarding.
|
|
- Music
rehearsal space. A dedicated rehearsal and recording facility is being
studied to encourage more young people to learn an instrument but the
facility is also intended to strengthen Tavistock’s position
as a centre of musical excellence.

Projects in concept phases – what is being talked about |
|
-
Princetown farm. Dartmoor Prison
is returning to the Duchy of Cornwall its lease on a farm near Princetown.
There may be opportunities to use the buildings and land to teach
moorland farming skills and perhaps establish a centre for finishing
and marketing locally-grown products such as wool or timber.
