West Devon Borough Council’s Local Plan Review completed the Public Inquiry stage in autumn 2003. Its strategy for new housing is summarised as:
The Local Plan Review indicates that a total of 615 new houses may be built on the following sites in Tavistock:
There will also be 21 new dwellings allowed on land at Woolacombe
Road, Bere Alston at a density of 30 per ha. Section
106 agreements will be negotiated to ensure that about 35% of all
the new homes will be ‘affordable’. |
|
‘New
houses need facilities for young people and improved infrastructure.’ ‘Mix
housing with office/work space and leisure; build neighbourhoods rather
than estates.’ ‘Don’t build on green belt land.’ ‘Keep Tavistock a rural
area.’ |
