| S2.8 Availability of supported housing | |
Sheltered housing, designed for people of retirement age who can live independently but would like the security of knowing that a Resident Scheme Manager lives on site, is provided by West Devon Homes at Horrabridge (28 units), Tavistock (63 units) and Yelverton (42 units). There is a point-based waiting list in operation. Privately managed schemes are also available. Supported housing is designed for people with special needs. In Tavistock,
West Devon Homes has 3 flats for young people and 6 flats for homeless
people. 12 new flats are being built in Tavistock for clients with mental
health problems and learning disabilities. More generally, the supported
housing needs of clients in West Devon are being met by floating support
packages which take support to where clients live, rather than through
the development of new supported housing. |
