| S5.10 Provision of open space | |
The National Playing Fields Association (NFPA) recommends a minimum of 2.4 hectares of outdoor playing space per 1000 population (1.6 youth/adult use and 0.8 children’s use) situated within easy reach of the population to be served. The current assessment of open space by West Devon Borough Council in the wake of PPG 17 has revealed an average provision of about 0.2 ha per 1000 people in Tavistock and 0.1 ha per 1000 people across West Devon. There is, therefore, a massive shortfall of public open space. |
