| S6.4 Adequacy of community venues | |
Tavistock has adequate community venues with the Town Hall, school halls, church halls, Kingdon House and the meeting rooms at West Devon Borough Council offices all offering reasonable facilities. The cost of hiring the Town Hall is sometimes raised as an issue but there are high maintenance expenses to cover because of its age and size. In the villages, the age and condition of meeting places varies considerably but the efforts of their management committees are always very evident. The modern hall at Clearbrook offers excellent facilities which are suitable for business meetings as well as community functions whilst in Princetown and Lamerton particularly, there is a clear case for replacing the old run-down buildings with new structures designed to meet a range of community needs. |
