| S6.8 Adequacy of facilities for local arts groups | |
|
|
Community meeting rooms are generally well used and Tavistock is fortunate to have some excellent venues for the performing arts. There is
an apparent shortage of workshop space for local artists and craftsmen.
There is also a demand for a dedicated rehearsal and recording facility,
primarily to encourage young people to learn an instrument but also to
strengthen Tavistock’s position as a centre of musical excellence. |
|
|
‘Increase
support for rural initiatives and conduct audit to assess need.’ ‘Arts
and crafts – good draw for tourists.’ ‘The
Wharf is a good facility.’ ‘Make
the Wharf bigger – only one screen.’ ‘Would
like to see music centre and recording studio.’ ‘More
theatre projects and rehearsal space.’ ‘More
resources for theatre groups.’ |
| Strategic
Aims: Economy & Employment; Provide more office, shop and workspace Culture, Media, Sports & Leisure; Create more studio, workshop and practice spaces |
