| T3.5 Car-parking patterns | |
The town centre car-parks are often at full capacity during the day but there are normally spaces available in Riverside and Bedford car-parks. The car parks are busiest during July and August, and again around Christmas, with Thursday, Friday and Saturday being the busiest days. Car parks ticket sales have increased from 350243 in 2000 to 377983 in 2002; a rise of 8% in two years. There is a shortage of parking for town centre residents, especially when visitors take up street parking spaces rather than use a car park. In addition, it is suspected that long-term parking takes place in spaces designated for short-stay only. Tavistock
car parking provision is due to be studied by a combined group from
Devon County Council, West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Town
Council. |
